EXPLORE SEATTLE | | | | | | | 12606 54th Ave NW
Gig Harbor,
WA
98332
253-851-1745 | | | | | Description: GIG HARBOR. Bring your camera to this exquisitely beautiful course. Plush fairways, always well manicured, are narrow and lined with a number of trees. Mounded, undulating, sloping all terms can be used to describe the demanding greens, which are typically fast and always in great condition. Roll a few putts first to get the feel for the test ahead of you. Only a few bunkers and water hazards come into play. Still, the course is quite challenging.

360-491-5111 | | | | | Description: OLYMPIA. Don't spray it off the tee on this course because out-of-bounds zones border most of the fairways. While the landing areas can be generous, a couple of fairway bunkers will make you think. Shot placement is important as well, for a few overhanging trees can affect several shots. The quick greens are protected by a number of yawning bunkers, so par becomes a good score if you don't get on in regulation.

| Gold Mountain Golf Club Olympic Course7263 W Belfair Valley Rd
Bremerton,
WA
98312
360-415-5432 | | | | | Description: BREMERTON. This lengthy course features some long, demanding holes but also presents opportunities for low scores. Incredibly scenic, these fairways are in perfect condition and provide ample room. Greens, though well maintained, are on the small side and are surrounded by gaping bunkers requiring careful shot selection on approaches. Once on these greens, you'll find they're extremely fast and contain some tricky breaks.

Mukilteo,
WA
98275
425-355-6060 | | | | | Description: MUKILTEO. Featuring two distinctly different nines, this outstanding course is an excellent choice. The front nine is relatively flat and typically wet due to the proximity of the surrounding wetlands. As you make the turn, you're greeted by rolling hills and changes in elevation, which offer more scenic views of the area and of neighboring Puget Sound. These greens are large and sloping, so accurate approach shots will help you avoid the lengthy putts that can often be found here.

| Indian Summer Golf and Country Club5900 Troon Ln SE
Olympia,
WA
98501
360-923-1075 | | | | | Description: OLYMPIA. While it's the water you need to avoid on the front nine, narrow, tree-lined fairways are the main concern on the back. Well-played approach shots will find oversized greens that are undulated and tiered. Stray too far off line on approaches and you're almost guaranteed to need a sand wedge, since bunkers surround each of the greens. With multiple tees, this course can be set up to play extremely long, which challenges the best of players. A dress code of collared shirts and tailored slacks is strictly upheld at the Golf and Country Club, as well as in the Embers Restaurant.

Stanwood,
WA
98292
360-652-9676 | | | | | Description: STANWOOD. This scenic course looks tame on paper, but the rolling hills, changes in elevation, and dogleg holes all add length and difficulty that can't be measured. Though relatively open, the course sports an occasional grouping of trees that can pinch the landing area or green opening. Consider fairway woods or long irons off these tees to keep the ball in play and attack the greens from a better angle.

Tacoma,
WA
98444
253-531-3660 | | | | | Description: TACOMA. Know your yardage as you prepare to tackle these dogleg holes. Too short off the tee and you're blocked out; too far, and you're through the fairway. Relatively flat, the well-manicured fairways are highlighted occasionally by bunkers near the landing areas. The oversized greens are well mounded and often difficult to putt. Miss the greens on approaches and be prepared to play from the sand.

Port Orchard,
WA
98367
360-895-0130 | | | | | Description: PORT ORCHARD. Nestled amid enormous fir trees, this course winds through an old Christmas tree farm. As you would expect, most fairways are narrow and bordered by a thick tree line. While few problems are presented by the water that comes into play on occasion, the largest challenge comes from the terrain and layout, which causes the course to play even longer than it's listed. Local knowledge will help navigate some of the trouble on this challenging track.

Watch the breathtaking views provided by rolling hills, and it's easy to forget about playing golf. Snaking through a forest, the fairways are tight and tree-lined. Several substantial drops in elevation create large ravines that must be traversed during the round. Small, fast greens await approach shots on these remarkable courses.
